About Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg
Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, born on January 10th, 1961 in Rome, Italy, is a renowned violinist. She gained early recognition by winning the Walter W. Naumburg International Violin Competition at the age of twenty, becoming the youngest prizewinner at that time. Salerno-Sonnenberg also received the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1983 and was honored with the Avery Fisher Prize in 1999.
Prior to her rise to fame, she pursued her musical education at the Curtis Institute of Music and later advanced her studies at The Juilliard School.
Notably, Nadja faced adversity when she had one of her finger tips surgically reattached following a kitchen accident in 1994. However, she remarkably returned to playing the violin only a couple years after her injury.
Born in Rome but raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey since childhood, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg’s journey from humble origins to international acclaim has left an indelible mark on the world of classical music.
