Mya Taylor, born on March 28, 1991 in Houston, Texas, is a transgender actress known for her debut role in the film Tangerine. She has also appeared in shorts like Happy Birthday, Marsha! and Diane from the Moon. In 2020, she portrayed Cherry in Stage Mother.
Prior to launching her acting career in 2015, Mya had worked as a sex worker. Notably, she became the first transgender actress to win the Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor in 2015 and was awarded Best Supporting Actress at both the San Francisco Film Critics Circle and the Independent Spirit Awards that same year.
Originally from Houston and raised by her grandparents, Mya Taylor continues to make strides and contributions within the film industry.
