Monique Truong Feet

Monique Truong is a Vietnamese novelist known for her 2003 work, The Book of Salt, and her second novel, Bitter in the Mouth. She was born on May 13, 1968 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and later emigrated to the United States as a war refugee.

After graduating from Yale University with a degree in English in 1990, she settled in New York City. In 2004, Truong received the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for her debut novel The Book of Salt.
