About Moira Shearer
Moira Shearer, born on January 17, 1926 in Scotland, was an acclaimed English film actress and ballet dancer. She is best known for her iconic role as Victoria Page in the 1948 dance-themed film “The Red Shoes.” Prior to gaining fame, she received personal instruction from dancer Nicholas Legat and was accepted into the prestigious Sadler’s Wells Ballet School. In addition to her dancing career, she hosted the Eurovision Song Contest for the BBC in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1972. Moira Shearer married Ludovic Kennedy and they had four children together.
