Miriam Cruz is a World Music Singer renowned for her contributions to the merengue genre. She was born on August 17, 1968, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
She gained initial fame as the lead singer of Las Chicas del Can, the pioneering all-female merengue group from the Dominican Republic which she co-founded in 1983. After experiencing success with the group, she embarked on a successful solo career and released multiple hit singles including “Tomalo Tu,” “Te Propongo,” and “La Loba.”
In recognition of her talent and influence in music, Miriam received the Premios Soberano award for Best Merengue Singer in 2016.
Aside from her musical endeavors, Miriam Cruz is also known for her family life; she has children named Diego and Mairym.
