About Michele Wallace
Michele Wallace is an African American feminist and author, best known for her influential work Black Macho and the Myth of the Superwoman, published in 1979. She has also contributed articles to publications such as Ms. magazine, Newsweek, and The Village Voice.
Wallace was born on January 4, 1952, in New York City. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in literature from the City College of New York before pursuing a Ph.D. in film studies at New York University. Following her studies, she taught English at both universities.
Notably, Wallace is the daughter of Faith Ringgold, a renowned artist and children’s book writer, and Robert Earl Wallace, a musician. Additionally, she was married to Eugene Nesmith from 1989 to 2001.
In addition to her acclaimed book Black Macho and the Myth of the Superwoman,[11] Wallace has written several essays exploring themes such as modern black artistry and black feminism under titles like “Michael Jackson, Black Modernisms., As well as more about social circumstance events , then Anger by writings.: A Vitamin Sisterhood .
