About Meytal Cohen
Meytal Cohen (born August 9, 1983) is an Israeli drummer and YouTube sensation. She is the founder of the heavy metal band Meytal and gained recognition after she and two friends submitted an electric violin version of “Toxicity” by System of a Down for America’s Got Talent.
Although she began playing drums at age 18, Cohen served in the Israeli Defense Forces before pursuing her drumming career. Later, she studied drumming at the Los Angeles Music Academy. Her first studio album titled Alchemy reached #1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart.
She was born in Ramat Gan, Israel as the youngest of seven children, including four sisters and two brothers. Cohen moved to Los Angeles, California when she was 20.
