Merel Van Dongen (born February 11, 1993) is a professional soccer player from Amsterdam, Netherlands. She currently serves as a defender for Spanish Primera Division club Atletico Madrid and also plays for the Netherlands women’s national team.
Van Dongen began her career playing for Ter Leede and Ado Den Haag before moving to the US to join the Alabama Crimson Tide. During her two years at Alabama, she set a record as the team’s single-season assists leader with 10 in 2014.
