Maya rose to prominence on the now-defunct platform Vine where she amassed over half a million followers. Before gaining fame as a social media personality, Maya created her Twitter account in late 2011 and started posting videos on the GLAMSS channel in 2014. She also gained attention for her humorous YouTube video titled ‘I’M ACTUALLY A GUY.’ which was posted in November 2014.
