May Irwin was a Canadian stage and screen actress known for her work in vaudeville and her roles in the 1895 stage production of The Widow Jones and the groundbreaking 1896 film The Kiss. Born on June 27, 1862, in Whitby, Canada, she began her career as part of a singing act with her younger sister Flora before finding success on Broadway and in early cinema.
An interesting trivia about May Irwin is that she shared the first on-screen kiss in movie history with John C. Rice during filming for The Kiss.
In 1907, she married Kurt Eisenfeldt as her second husband.
