About Maxee Maxwell
Maxee Maxwell, born on January 11, 1969 in Guyana, was an R&B singer who rose to fame as a member of the American R&B girl group Brownstone. The group is best known for their 1995 album “From the Bottom Up” and the 1997 album “Still Climbing,” with their hit single “If You Love Me” being particularly notable.
Prior to her music career, Maxee formed Brownstone alongside Nichole “Nicci” Gilbert and Monica “Mimi” Doby in Los Angeles after meeting at auditions around the city. Less than a year later, they were signed to Michael Jackson’s MJJ label.
In 1995, Brownstone received a Grammy nomination for Best Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance for their single “If You Love Me.” Maxee was married to music producer Carsten “Soulshock” Schack and had a son named Nicolaj Hojer. Tragically, she passed away in February 2015 after falling onto broken glass. Her full name was Charmayne Maxena Maxwell.
