About Maud Crawford
Maud Crawford (June 22, 1891 – presumed deceased) was a pioneering lawyer from Texas, known for being the first woman to practice law in Camden, Arkansas. Despite her professional success, she vanished without a trace in 1957 and her disappearance remains unsolved.
Before pursuing a career in law, Crawford graduated as valedictorian from Warren High School in Arkansas and briefly attended the University of Arkansas. She initially worked as a court reporter before passing the Arkansas bar examination and specializing in titles and estates.
During the 1940s, Crawford founded the Arkansas Girls State organization and became the first female member of the Camden City Council.
She was married to Clyde Falwell Crawford for over three decades until her mysterious disappearance. Half a century later, an investigative journalism series suggested that a business executive named Mike Berg could potentially be linked to her case.
