Mattie Rogers (born August 23, 1995) is a weightlifter from Florida who has made a name for herself representing the United States at various prestigious competitions, including the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships. In 2016, she gained widespread attention when a video of her failing to lift went viral.
Prior to her weightlifting career, Rogers was involved in Crossfit starting at the age of 17 before transitioning to weightlifting less than a year later. She made her debut in national competition in 2014.
Rogers’ mishap during a weightlifting event led to being featured on HLN. The athlete hails from Florida and comes from a family comprised of an older sister and younger brother. Tragically, her father died from colon cancer in 2001.
