About Mata Hari
Mata Hari, born on August 7, 1876 in the Netherlands, was an exotic dancer and a convicted World War I spy. She embodied the archetype of the femme fatale and served as an inspiration for numerous novels and films.
Before gaining notoriety as a spy, Mata Hari was born to wealthy Frisian parents in Leeuwarden, Netherlands along with her three siblings. She later married Rudolf John MacLeod from 1895 to 1903 after responding to his newspaper personal advertisement.
Following her execution, her embalmed head was displayed at the Museum of Anatomy in Paris until its mysterious disappearance in 2000.
