Mata Amritanandamayi, also known as Amma, was born on September 27, 1953 in India. She is a renowned spiritual leader and guru of the Hindu faith, revered as a saint by her followers.
Amma is equally celebrated for her philanthropic endeavors. Her organizations are dedicated to providing food, housing, education, and medical services to underprivileged individuals.
Prior to her rise in prominence, Amma gained recognition for her altruism within her community. This ultimately led to the foundation of the Mata Amrtanandamay Math, which focuses on charitable and spiritual activities.
On an international scale, she attained widespread acclaim for aiding in tsunami relief efforts following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. In addition to this milestone effort, she continues to make significant contributions such as donations towards cleaning the Ganges River in 2015.
