About Mary Oliver
Mary Oliver was a Pulitzer Prize-winning nature poet born on September 10, 1935, in Maple Heights, Ohio. She became known for her collections such as American Primitive and Dream Work and was considered one of the top-selling poets of her generation.
Before rising to fame, Oliver attended Ohio State University and Vassar College. At the age of twenty-eight, she published her debut poetry collection titled No Voyage and Other Poems.
In addition to winning the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1984 for American Primitive, she also won a National Book Award in 1992 for her New and Selected Poems.
Oliver spent much of her adult life in Massachusetts with her long-time partner, Molly Malone Cook.
