About Mary O’Hara
Mary O’Hara (born July 10, 1885) was an American novelist and screenwriter best known for her 1941 work, My Friend Flicka. She began her literary career as a Hollywood screenwriter, with credits including The Prisoner of Zenda (1922) and Framed (1927).
My Friend Flicka is set in Wyoming and revolves around rancher’s son Ken McLaughlin and his horse. O’Hara went on to write several other popular novels, including Thunderhead (1943) and Green Grass of Wyoming (1946).
O’Hara was born in New Jersey to a minister father and married her third cousin, Kent Parrot, in 1905.
