About Mary Margaret McBride
Mary Margaret McBride, born on November 16, 1899 in Missouri, was a prominent radio host, interviewer, and journalist known for her popular CBS, NBC, and ABC radio programs that aired for over forty years. Throughout her career she authored over nine books including jazz, Charm and Mary Margaret McBride’s Harvest of American Cooking.
Before gaining fame as a renowned radio personality, she earned a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1919 and worked for The Cleveland Press and The New York Evening Mail. Notably early on in her career she hosted a women’s advice program on WOR-New York City.
In 1950 she married voice actor Bill Thompson until his death in 1971.
