Mary Costa, born on April 5, 1930 in Knoxville, Tennessee, is an opera singer and actress best known for providing the voice of Princess Aurora in Disney’s 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty. Her exceptional talent was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation in 1989.
Before gaining fame as one of Disney’s iconic princesses, Mary Costa began singing at Sunday schools at the age of six. She later pursued formal training at the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music before embarking on a career that included collaborations with Disney and performances at prestigious venues such as Hollywood Bowl.
