About Marvel Rea
Marvel Rea was a movie actress known for her work in comedy films as a swimsuit-clad ‘Bathing Beauty’ and for her collaborations with actor Ford Sterling. She was born on November 9, 1901, in Nebraska.
During her four-year Hollywood career, she appeared in close to thirty films starting from the late 1910s. Her early credits include roles in the 1918 film The Summer Girls and the 1917 feature A Clever Dummy.
In a tragic turn of events, Rea was abducted and assaulted by three men in 1936, leading to her taking her own life less than a year later. She had two marriages – first to Henry Page Wells from 1918 until 1922, and secondly to Edwin J. Wilkinson which began in 1936 until it ended with her passing.
She spent her childhood years in Nebraska before moving to California at the age of nine.
