Marsha Blackburn, born on June 6, 1952 in Laurel, Mississippi, is a Republican politician known for her service as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 7th congressional district starting from 2003. In the year 2018 she went on to defeat Tennessee governor Phil Bredesen to secure a seat in the U.S. Senate.
Prior to her political career, Blackburn obtained a B.S. in home economics from Mississippi State University in the year 1974. Notably, she has also held titles in beauty pageants including Oil Festival Queen and Miss U.S. Teen runner-up.
Marsha is married to Charles Blackburn and they have two children named Mary and Chad.
