About Marlo Thomas
Marlo Thomas, born on November 21, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan, is a stage actress and producer. She is best known for her role on the sitcom That Girl and has gained recognition as a philanthropist.
Aside from her acting career, Thomas became the National Outreach Director for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.
Prior to pursuing acting, she graduated from the University of Southern California in 1979 and worked as a school teacher. Additionally, Thomas initiated the children’s project Free to Be…You and Me which includes an award-winning record album and illustrated book that transitioned into an after-school special in 1974.
Born to Danny Thomas who founded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1962, Marlo Thomas married Phil Donahue in 1980.
