Mariya Abakumova is a Russian javelin thrower, born on January 15, 1986 in Stavropol, Russia. She has achieved significant success in her career, including winning gold at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics and the 2013 Summer Universiade.
Abakumova made her Olympic debut in 2008 and won a silver medal. Before gaining recognition on the international stage, she came fourth at the World Youth Championships in 2003.
A notable achievement was setting a Russian record of 71.99 meters at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics.
She is married to German javelin thrower Dmitriy Tarabin with whom she has children.
