About Maritza Correia
Maritza Correia, born on December 23, 1981 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a former competitive swimmer. She is best known for winning a silver medal as part of the 4×100 meter freestyle relay team at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Correia began swimming at the age of seven as treatment for her severe scoliosis. Her dedication and talent led her to compete at the University of Georgia where she earned numerous accolades including being a 27-time All-American and an 11-time National Champion.
In 2010, she married Chad McClendon and they welcomed their first child, Kason, in 2012. In 2013, their daughter Sanaya was born.
