Mariska Veres was a Dutch rock singer best known as the lead vocalist of the music group Shocking Blue and for her solo singles, including 1976’s “Tell It Like It Is/Wait Till’ I Get Back To You.” She began her music career in 1963 with the band Les Mysteres and released an EP the following year. Born on October 1, 1947, in the Netherlands to a Hungarian father who was a violinist and a French-Russian mother, she also has an older sister named Ilonka. Veres embarked on a solo career with several released singles, including her debut ‘Take Me High/I Am Loving You’ in 1975.
