Marion Davies (born January 3, 1897 in Brooklyn, New York) was an American actress, writer, producer, and director. She gained notoriety as the lover of millionaire William Randolph Hearst who financed her film Cecilia of the Pink Roses in 1918. Before achieving fame in Hollywood, she chose the name Davies after seeing it on a real estate sign.
Davies had a long-term relationship with Hearst but they never married due to his wife’s refusal to grant him a divorce. Following Hearst’s death in 1951, Davies married Horace G. Brown on October 31 of that year.
