About Marina Warner
Marina Warner is a British novelist and short story writer known for her non-fiction works on feminism and mythology. Born in England on November 9, 1946, she gained recognition for books like The Lost Father (1987) and No Go the Bogeyman: Scaring, Lulling and Making Mock (1998). She studied French and Italian at Oxford University before publishing her debut book, The Dragon Empress: The Life and Times of Tz’u-hsi, Empress Dowager of China, 1835-1908 in 1972. Warner’s controversial work alone of All Her Sex: The Myth and the Cult of the Virgin Mary was published in 1976.
Warner’s non-fiction writing received acclaim. From the Beast to the Blonde: On Fairy Tales and Their Tellers garnered her the prestigious Mythopoeic Award in 1996. In addition to her literary pursuits, Marina Warner was briefly married to fellow author William Shawcross; they had a son named Conrad.
