Before her career in television, she studied psychology at the University of Miami and graduated with a summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. Later, she pursued law at Georgetown University and graduated cum laude at just 23 years old.
In 1999, she was appointed to the Miami Circuit Court by then-Florida governor Jeb Bush. In addition to her career achievements, Marilyn also has a family life; she married Judge John Schlesinger in 1993 and they have three daughters named Alexandra, Cristina and Sofia Elena.
