About Mariko Okada
Mariko Okada (born January 11, 1933) is a Japanese movie actress who gained prominence for her roles in numerous films. Some of her notable works include Floating Clouds in 1955 and My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me? in 2005.
Prior to her acting career, Okada was exposed to the film industry through her father, Tokihiko Okada, a renowned silent film actor. Her first major role came from director Yasujiro Ozu’s collaboration with her father in Late Autumn in 1960.
Over the years, she has received multiple awards for her contributions to cinema including a Golden Glory Award and a Platinum Grand Prize at the Japan Movie Critics Awards in 1998. She was married to film director Yoshishige Yoshida.
