About Marie-Louise Meilleur
Marie-Louise Meilleur (1880-08-29) was a Canadian supercentenarian known for holding the title of the world’s oldest living person. She lived to be 117 years and 230 days old, making her the fourth-longest-living person in history.
Meilleur was born in Kamouraska, Quebec, to a French Canadian family and later settled in Corbeil, Ontario. Remarkably, she used tobacco products until she was well into her nineties.
She was married twice; her first marriage to Etienne Leclerc resulted in four children who lived to adulthood. Following Leclerc’s death, she married Hector Meilleur and raised another six children with him. At the end of her life, she resided in a nursing home where one of her sons also lived.
