About Mariana Atencio
Mariana Atencio is a renowned journalist known for her work with MSNBC and NBC News Miami, covering domestic and international issues. Born on April 2, 1984 in Caracas, Venezuela, she attended the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello before earning a scholarship from Columbia University’s School of Journalism, where she obtained her Masters.
Atencio has received numerous honors and awards for her investigative reporting, including a National Headliner Award for uncovering a secret Government prison in Venezuela. She gained recognition for her coverage of the 2013 scandal Operation Fast and Furious, receiving both a Peabody Award and an Investigative Reporters and Editors Award.
