Maria Rita, born on September 9, 1977 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, is a prominent figure in the world of Musica Popular Brasileira. She rose to fame with her platinum-certified self-titled debut album and has since released several chart-topping singles such as “Nao Deixe O Samba Morrer,” “Ta Perdoado” and “Cara Valente.”
Before pursuing a career in music, Maria Rita began singing professionally at the age of 24 and also studied at New York University. Her talent has been recognized through various accolades including multiple Latin Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Musica Popular Brasileira Album for her works like Maria Rita (2003) and Segundo (2005).
Her musical lineage stems from being the daughter of legendary Brazilian musicians Elis Regina and Cesar Camargo Mariano. In 2011, Maria Rita tied the knot with musician Davi Moraes with whom she shares a daughter named Alice. Prior to this marriage, she was wedded to film director Marcus Baldini resulting in a son named Antonio.
