About Maria Qamar
Maria Qamar, born on March 9, 1991 in Pakistan, is a well-known illustrator and visual artist. Her pop art inspired by South Asian culture has gained her significant recognition, including being featured on the cover of Elle Canada and amassing an Instagram following of over 180,000.
Qamar’s work was compiled in the successful book Trust No Aunty (2017). She moved from Pakistan to Mississauga, Ontario, Canada at the age of nine and initially worked as a copywriter at an ad agency before pursuing a full-time career as an artist.
In addition to her literary success, her art has also been featured in popular media such as the Mindy Kaling comedy The Mindy Project. Born to parents who are both chemists, Maria Qamar continues to make strides in the art world with her unique style influenced by her South Asian heritage.
