Maria Claudia de Souza Santos, born on October 9, 1949 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a Brazilian actress known for her work in soap operas during the 1970s. After her career was interrupted by a rare illness that affected her vocal cords in the 1980s, she made a successful comeback and appeared in television series such as Voce Decide, Ways of the Heart and Uma Rosa com Amor.
Prior to her acting career, Maria Claudia aimed to become a classical ballet dancer and began acting at age 17. She has also been involved in stage plays like The Wedding Dress by Nelson Rodrigues and portrayed Empress Amelie of Leuchtenberg in the historical drama film Independencia ou Morte (1972).
She was married to writer and actor Luiz Carlos Maciel from 1976 until his passing in 2017 and is the niece of actor Luis Delfino.
