About Margo Dydek
Margo Dydek was a prominent Polish professional basketball player, best known for her time as the tallest professional female basketball player in the world, standing at 7 ft 2 in tall.
She played as a center on various teams in the WNBA and later went on to coach for the Northside Wizards in the Queensland Basketball League. In May 1998, she made her first trip to the United States for the WNBA pre-draft camp and was subsequently drafted 1st overall in the 1998 WNBA draft by the Utah Starzz.
Notably, in 1999 Margo was awarded with the Polish Gold Cross of Merit. Her contributions to basketball were recognized when she was posthumously inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2019.
Margo had two sisters who also played basketball professionally – Katarzyna who used to play for Colorado Xplosion and Marta who played at University of Texas-El Paso and later professionally in Spain.
Tragically, Margo passed away while pregnant with her third child. She is survived by her husband David Twigg and their two sons Alexander and David Twigg.
