Margarita Rosa de Francisco is a Colombian soap opera actress born on August 8, 1965 in Cali, Colombia. She gained fame through her roles on various Colombian telenovelas, most notably Cafe Con Aroma de Mujer. In addition to her acting career, she has worked as a presenter on the news show 24 Hours and has been a columnist for Cromos magazine.
Before rising to stardom, she trained in ballet at the Antonio Maria Valencia Conservatory and later moved to New York City in the mid-80s to study English.
In 2000, she was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF by the United Nations. Margarita comes from an artistic family; her father is musician and actor Gerardo de Francisco while her mother is fashion designer Mercedes Baquero. Her brother Martin de Francisco is also known as a television personality. Notably, Margarita was married to singer Carlos Vives from 1988 to 1990.
