Margaret D Lowman, born on December 23, 1953 in New York, is a renowned conservationist, scientist and author. She is recognized for her exceptional contributions to the fields of conservation biology and canopy ecology. Lowman’s notable works include her science-themed books “It’s a Jungle Up There” and “Life in the Treetops”.Lowman pursued her studies in biology at Williams College before furthering her education with ecology at Aberdeen University and botany at Sydney University. Her unique achievements as a professor at Williams College included the construction of the first North American canopy (treetop) walkway.She grew up in Elmira, New York and has since taught and held research positions across various locations including Massachusetts, California, North Carolina, and Florida.
