About Margaret Craven
Margaret Craven (March 13, 1901 – July 19, 1980) was a prominent twentieth-century American novelist known for her works “I Heard the Owl Call My Name” and “Walk Gently This Good Earth.” Born in Montana, Craven achieved significant commercial success with literary sales exceeding one million copies during her lifetime. Prior to establishing herself as an author, she worked as the secretary to the managing editor of the Mercury Herald. Notably, Craven overcame a nearly blinding bacterial eye infection earlier in her life. She was the daughter of Arthur J. Craven and Emily K. Craven.
