Mandy Sellars is a woman from England who gained media attention for her rare genetic mutation, which caused her legs to grow abnormally large in comparison to the rest of her body. Born on February 20, 1975, Sellars made several television appearances to discuss her condition.
Before gaining fame, doctors suggested that Sellars have her legs amputated when she was just seven years old due to the severity of her condition. However, in 2010, she ultimately had to undergo amputation of her left leg. At one point in 2009, she estimated that her legs alone weighed approximately 210 pounds.
Sellars’s mother, June, played an important role in supporting and advocating for a normal childhood for Sellars despite the challenges posed by her condition.
