About Malia Manuel
Malia Manuel is a surfer born on August 9, 1993, in Kauai, Hawaii. She has achieved recognition as a top-ranked surfer by the Association of Surfing Professionals and has claimed victories at prestigious events such as the Merewether Surf Fest. Notably, in 2008 at age 14, she made history by becoming the youngest person to win the U.S. Open of Surfing.
Prior to gaining fame in the surfing world, Malia won the first Annual Irons Brothers Classic at just 8 years old and became a member of the Hawaii World Team by age 11.
She also made waves as one of only two women ever to grace the cover of TransWorld Surf Magazine in 2011.
Malia comes from a family deeply rooted in surfing culture – her father hails from Kauai while her mother is from Southern California, with both being passionate surfers themselves.
