Maki Ohguro is a Japanese pop singer-songwriter born on December 31, 1969, in Sapporo, Japan. She is best known for her single “DA・KA・RA,” which sold over 1.1 million copies and earned her the Japan Record Grand Prix Newcomer Award of the Year in 1992.
Despite taking breaks from her music career, Ohguro has released over 36 singles and 13 studio albums, earning her the nickname “phantom singer” due to these hiatuses.
She gained recognition with the release of her debut single, “Stop Motion,” in 1992 and continues to be an influential figure in the Japanese music industry.
