About Maiwenn
Maiwenn, born Maiwenn Le Besco in France on April 17, 1976, is a renowned screenwriter and director. She gained fame for her work on the films Polisse (2011), Pardonnez-Moi (2006), and Le Bal des Actrices (2008). Prior to her success behind the camera, she had an acting career in French films during the 1980s, ’90s, and early 2000s.
One of her notable roles came in the 1983 film L’ete meurtrier (English title: One Deadly Summer) during her teenage years. In addition to her film work, Maiwenn wrote and performed two solo theatrical pieces based on her experiences as a child actress entitled I’m an Actress and Le Pois Chiche.
In terms of family life, at sixteen she married producer and director Luc Besson with whom she had a daughter named Shanna. After divorcing Besson in 1997, she later married Jean-Yves Le Fur with whom she has a son named Diego.
