About Mairead Nesbitt
Mairead Nesbitt (born April 18, 1979) is an Irish violinist and fiddle player. She is best known for her work as a member of the group Celtic Woman and for her solo albums, including 2001’s Raining Up.
Nesbitt began playing the violin at the age of six and later studied at both the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music.
In 2003, she was named Best Traditional Female by Irish Music Magazine. Nesbitt’s parents, John and Kathleen, were both music teachers.
