About Mairead Carlin
Mairead Carlin was born on December 5, 1988 in Northern Ireland. She is a world music singer known for her involvement with the Celtic Woman vocal ensemble and for her debut solo album, Songbook. Carlin has collaborated with notable musicians including Don McLean and Damian McGinty.
Carlin began her singing career at the age of fifteen by participating in a BBC talent competition, ultimately securing a role in an opera production directed by Francesca Zambello. She later studied at London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
In addition to her musical career, Carlin performed the song “White Light” for the soundtrack of the 2013 film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.
She comes from Derry and is notably the first Northern Irish-born member of Celtic Woman.
