She portrayed Nurse Ernestine Shoop on six seasons of the popular TV series Trapper John MD and gained widespread recognition for her performance as Bell Reynolds in the miniseries Roots. Additionally, she provided the voice of Sarabi in Disney’s animated classic The Lion King.Prior to achieving fame through her screen performances, Sinclair had already made a name for herself as a stage actress within New York City’s black theatre community.
