About Lynette Woodard
Lynette Woodard, born on August 12, 1959 in Kansas, is a renowned basketball player known for her groundbreaking achievement as the first female to play for the Harlem Globetrotters. Throughout her career, she garnered multiple gold medals representing the United States at prestigious tournaments such as the 1983 Pan American Games, 1984 Olympic Games and 1990 FIBA World Championship.
Prior to her professional career, Woodard displayed her talent by winning two Kansas state titles while attending Wichita North High School. In addition, she holds the distinction of being the first University of Kansas women’s basketball player to have her jersey number retired. Notably, Woodard has strong familial ties to basketball, as her cousin Hubert “Geese” Ausbie also played for the Globetrotters.
