About Louise Mushikiwabo
Louise Mushikiwabo is a Rwandan politician born on May 22, 1961. She is best known for her role as the Secretary General of Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, a position she was elected to in 2018 for a 4-year term. Prior to this, she served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Rwanda from 2009 to 2018.
Mushikiwabo graduated from the National University of Rwanda with a Bachelor’s degree in English in 1994 before moving to the U.S. to study linguistics at the University of Delaware.
Aside from her political career, she is also recognized for co-authoring the semi-autobiographical novel Rwanda Means the Universe (2006). Mushikiwabo hails from a distinguished family; her sister Anne-Marie Kantengwa is a businesswoman while Lando Ndasingwa pursued politics.
