About Lou Henry Hoover
Lou Henry Hoover was the wife of President Herbert Hoover, and served as First Lady of the United States from 1929 to 1933. Born on March 29, 1874 in Waterloo, Iowa, Lou was known for being the first First Lady who could speak fluent Chinese and host regular radio broadcasts.
Before making history in politics, Lou explored her love for nature and the outdoors which led her to study at what is now San Jose State University. She continued her studies by enrolling as the only female geology major at Stanford University.
