Lorrie Moore is an American fiction writer born on January 13, 1957 in Glens Falls, New York. Known for her humorous and bestselling short story collections such as Self-Help, Like Life, and Birds of America, she has also penned novels including A Gate at the Stairs and Anagrams.
After completing her education at St. Lawrence University and working as a paralegal in Manhattan for two years, Moore went on to earn an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Cornell University.
