Lizzie Velasquez, born on March 13, 1989 in Austin, Texas, is an American non-fiction author known for her works including a 2010 autobiography and a 2012 motivational book titled Be Beautiful, Be You. She gained fame as one of the few individuals in the world with Marfanoid-progeroid-lipodystrophy syndrome which causes an inability to accumulate body fat.
Due to her rare condition, she endured bullying throughout her upbringing. Despite this challenge, she later became a prominent figure in anti-bullying activism and established herself as a motivational speaker.
Velasquez’s family consists of her parents Guadalupe and Rita Velasquez along with two younger siblings.
